Kaylee & Noah’s Olympic National Park Wedding

Kaylee and Noah’s love runs deep. With their beautiful vows, laid-back joy at celebrating their marriage, and the backdrop of Olympic National Park for their wedding, I couldn’t have asked for a better couple to spend my day with, and do what I love doing most — photographing a wedding in one of Washington’s most beautiful places.

Kaylee & Noah

This story is one made for a meet-cute novel. Kaylee and Noah’s paths crossed before they ever actually met each other, in a high school art class. Noah, a painter, had a piece that Kaylee loved so much (she didn’t know who had painted it) that she tried to steal it! The art teacher caught her, took the piece back, and hid it away until two years later, when it was rediscovered during a parent teacher conference.

Kaylee and Noah began more seriously dating after they graduated from high school, and consider themselves to be total opposites that are perfect complements. Kaylee is a social butterfly — constantly visiting friends and family, and Noah tends to hermit in the house playing guitar or learning something new. Noah’s mom makes whoopie pies from scratch — Noah always takes the tops off and eats the bottom chocolate cake with the cream, while Kaylee’s favorite part is just the chocolate cake with a thick layer of the frosting. A perfect fit!

Their Olympic National Park Wedding

Kaylee and Noah’s vows were beautiful and emotional, and their families were overcome with joy at their union. The moody weather didn’t give us dark skies, so the clouds never felt at odds with the happiness of the group. Just a perfectly PNW addition to the day! The overcast skies were complemented by the jewel tones that Kaylee and Noah asked their families to wear — dark greens, reds, and blues that looked so perfect.

The original plan for this wedding in Olympic National Park was quite different — we were going to hit the Hoh Rainforest and Ruby Beach, then changed it up in favor of Lake Crescent and Salt Creek Recreation Area. On the day of, we just went with the flow. After spending about 2 hours getting ready at their Airbnb before heading to Lake Crescent for their ceremony, we decided to stay put! We had privacy on the lake, could picnic in the parking lot without worrying about disturbing other visitors, and had a lakeside view that only got better and better as we waited for sunset. It was like an elopement day tailgate, with the whole family joining in the fun!

At the end of the day, Kaylee and Noah decided to take a dip in the lake. The water was nice and warm, so they went pretty deep, which means they got the full adventure wedding experience! Watching them revel in how lovely the water felt together and sharing kisses as they swam out was one of my favorite moments.

Vendors for an Olympic National Park Wedding

Kaylee and Noah kept their celebration simple and understated. When you opt for a location that knows how to stun and awe without any help, it’s easy to let the rest slip away and just be present with your loved ones and nature.
