Ah, to be a child heading off to summer camp again– the promise of outdoor adventure, quality time with your BFFs, and endless opportunities to explore. Don’t you wish there was such an opportunity to be had for adults, now that we’d probably benefit a heck of a lot more from that type of escape into nature alongside the people we love? Fortunately, there is a way to make it happen: by planning a summer camp-inspired wedding 😉

And by summer camp wedding, I don’t just mean renting out a campsite and pitching tents on your wedding night (though that is absolutely a great option too). I mean booking an upscale resort, lodge, or glamping site, and enjoying all the best parts of a camping trip… plus the luxury of modern accommodations and amenities. Sounds like the dream, right?

Luckily for you, I’ve compiled a list of 8 gorgeous, one-of-a-kind summer camp wedding venues around the PNW that will take your special day from rustic to *elevated* in all the best ways. Can’t wait to see which one is calling your name the most!

1. Sou’wester Lodge | Seaview, WA

I am 99% sure you’ve never seen anything quite like Sou’wester Lodge, as I hadn’t either before seeing it for myself! Sou’wester isn’t simply your run-of-the-mill lodge on the coast of Washington: it’s a self-described “hodgepodge” of vintage trailers, cozy cabins, and rustic lodge suites. (Yes, I said vintage trailers– over 30, in fact– and yes, they are as charming as you’re imagining.) In simple terms: hosting your wedding at Sou’wester means giving your guests the fun, relaxing vacation getaway they’ve been craving, and getting married while you’re at it!

Guest Capacity: Up to 150

Venue Highlights:

• Garden Spa & Finnish Sauna: Complete with cedar hand-milled benches, an outdoor tub and shower, and a private garden. The dream for a little pre (or post) wedding day R&R together!

• Long Beach Peninsula: Want to walk down to the beach the morning of your wedding? Maybe spend the day-after crabbing, birding, or just lounging around in the sand? Your wish is Sou’wester’s command.

• 19th-century, eclectic vibes: This resort is unlike any other I’ve ever seen, with vibrant decor that feels creative, unique, and full of character. It’s a delightful blend of nostalgia and contemporary comfort! 

Good Things to Know: Sou’wester can accommodate up to 120 overnight guests, with additional lodging options nearby if you need extra room!

2. Camp Saturna | Maple Falls, WA

Camp Saturna is a gorgeous lakefront venue in the North Cascades, spanning over 100 acres of lush forested land that’s just begging to bear witness to your ceremony. Complete with a picturesque deck on Silver Lake, multiple firepits for late-night s’mores, and a spacious lodge for your reception, it’s everything you could want and more out of a lakeside camping wedding venue.

Aside from being a pristine destination for weddings, Camp Saturna is primarily an environmental education camp. Which, for a carbon neutral & Leave No Trace Aware gal like me, is such a bonus! We love supporting a venue that fosters such wonderful environmental stewardship to help the community protect and care for Washington’s beautiful, rugged landscapes.

Guest Capacity: Up to 100

Venue Highlights:

• Chapel in the woods: Exactly what it sounds like– a lovely chapel in a secluded wooded area of the venue. 

• Main lodge: Room to seat up to 139 guests, a full commercial kitchen, and a covered outdoor dining area protected from rain.

• Outdoor adventures & excursions: Hiking, paddleboarding, canoeing, and swimming are all fun activities available to you and your guests!

Good Things to Know: The Bunkhouse at Camp Saturna can accommodate up to 44 overnight guests, plus more in their 4 lakeside group campsites. It’s also a great base to access the Mt. Baker Ski Area, if you’re looking for a bit of a winter adventure.

3. Captain Whidbey Inn | Whidbey Island, WA

Can you tell I have a thing for waterfront wedding venues? Fortunately there is no shortage of ‘em here in the PNW– next up is the Captain Whidbey Inn, a waterfront hotel & restaurant on Whidbey Island. It’s been around since 1907, and gives you the coziest cabin feel for your celebration and stay. They’re all about bringing people together in community and connection– both with each other and with nature– which I’d say is a dang good mission to have. 

Guest Capacity: Up to 250

Venue Highlights:

• Various lodging options: From the Historic Lodge to the Scandinavian-inspired “Lagoon Rooms” and cabins perched above Penn Cove, you have plenty of private stays to choose from.

• Full property buy-out: Don’t want to share the grounds with other groups? I don’t blame you! Get the entire property all to yourselves with a property buy-out– you’ll get access to the whole 6 acres, a restaurant, and a 2-night weekend stay.

• Private lagoon and dock: The dock even has sail and seaplane access! Anyone want to arrive at their wedding via seaplane?

Good Things to Know: No need to book a separate place to stay– you and your guests can add on accommodations right on the property (there’s space for up to 125). This inn is also pet-friendly!

4. Under Canvas Columbia River Gorge | Columbia River Gorge, WA

If you’ve spent any time searching for glamping/summer camp wedding venues, then you’ve probably come across Under Canvas– one of the most iconic and trendy outdoor accommodation companies right now. We’re lucky to have our very own location in Washington, set on 120 acres in the White Salmon River Valley with dreamy views galore. See the Cascade Mountains on one side and Mt. Hood on the other– and forested hillsides everywhere in-between!

Guest Capacity: Up to 30 for a small wedding, or up to 250 for a full camp buyout

Venue Highlights:

• Outdoor getaways: The Gorge is filled with unparalleled places to explore, many of which are accessible from Under Canvas– including local breweries and wineries, Hood River, waterfall hikes, and more.

• Camp programming: When you book your wedding at Under Canvas, you’ll be paired with an “Adventure Concierge,” who will help you plan fun adventures around the Gorge. Paddleboarding, white-water rafting, guided hikes… the options are endless, and you won’t have to worry about planning a thing.

Good Things to Know: If you use Under Canvas as your wedding venue, you and all of your guests are required to stay on the property. Groups of 30 or more require a full-camp buyout, and it’s also pet-friendly!

5. NatureBridge | Olympic National Park, WA

Another environmental stewardship retreat center that doubles as a wedding venue! Woohoo! NatureBridge is actually partnered with the National Park Service, serving primarily as a space that provides hands-on environmental science programs to schools in the area. But it’s also a really beautiful venue for wedding weekends! Surrounded by forested trails, cascading waterfalls, and all the wild & rugged beauty of Olympic National Park, NatureBridge is the definition of quintessential PNW.

Guest Capacity: Up to 150

Venue Highlights:

• Rosemary Inn: A restored 1900s lodge with a cozy library and reception lawn.

• Lake Crescent ceremony site: You get to tie the knot on the gorgeous shores of Lake Crescent!

• Proximity to the Olympic Peninsula & ONP: NatureBridge isn’t even just “close” to Olympic National Park: it’s located within it! There are SO many amazing spots to visit in the area if you and/or your guests would like to extend your stay & explore all that the park has to offer.

Good Things to Know: The cabins at NatureBridge can accommodate up to 150 people. With a full property buyout, you’ll get exclusive access to them all!

6. IslandWood | Bainbridge Island, WA

IslandWood is one of my all-time favorite Washington wedding venues, located on the beautiful Bainbridge Island. It offers couples a classic PNW experience while also providing environmental education to the Puget Sound region! The vast 250-acre grounds really reinforce that destination feeling with its tall trees, lush greenery, and beautiful bird calls surrounding you; you’d never know you were just a quick boat ride away from the big city. 

Guest Capacity: Up to 175

Venue Highlights:

• Outdoor adventures: I highly recommend staying at IslandWood for a few days before/after your wedding with your guests, if you’re able to, so that you have time to participate in all the amazing activities they have to offer! These include: hiking, trail running, yoga, kayaking, sailing, paddleboarding, & more.

• Endless photo spots: Trust me when I say you’ll want to budget plenty of time for couples portraits so that we can hit all of the venue’s iconic spots, including the suspension bridge, the treehouse, the pond, the greenhouse, and a few secret spots that I know about 😉

• Mess hall receptions: Receptions at IslandWood are hosted in the mess hall! Very summer camp-esque, especially with the dinner bell they have for you to ring when the food is ready. Adorable.

Good Things to Know: Accommodations at IslandWood can fit up to 200 guests. They also have an in-house chef and kitchen team who will curate personalized menus for you!

7. Under Canvas Glacier | Glacier National Park, MT

Listen, I know that Montana may not technically be part of the PNW… but I’m considering it an honorary member for the sake of this guide. These last two venues were simply too good to skip out on! 

Specifically, Under Canvas Glacier– another Under Canvas glamping destination, this time located right near the west entrance to Glacier National Park. It’s such an idyllic place to spend your nights in Big Sky Country, underneath the stars and so close to the spectacular wilderness of Glacier! Alpine lakes, snow-covered peaks, wildflower meadows, and infinite hiking trails… you’ll never run out of places to go. 

Guest Capacity: Up to 30 for a small wedding, or up to 250 for a full camp buyout

Venue Highlights:

• Easy access to GNP: You’ll be staying just seven miles from the west entrance into Glacier, where you can then explore the park’s 700 miles of trails to your heart’s content.

• Complimentary s’mores and nightly campfires: Because you deserve them!

• Various tent types: From cozy safari tents to spacious suites that can fit up to 4 people.

8. Flathead Lake Lodge | Bigfork, MT

This all-inclusive dude ranch was founded back in 1945, and has been welcoming guests to soak up the gorgeous Montana landscapes ever since. Flathead Lake Lodge sits right on the shores of, you guessed it, Flathead Lake– a stunning destination in northwest Montana with views for days. With an emphasis on tradition and hospitality, this family-owned ranch will feel like a second home to you and your guests in a matter of days.

Guest Capacity: Up to 100

Venue Highlights:

• 3-day, 3-night buyouts: Spend a complete weekend celebrating your wedding without other visitors around.

• On and off-ranch activities: Customize your wedding festivities with fun activities such as water recreation on Flathead Lake, horseback riding, mountain biking, or even a private guided tour of Glacier National Park.

• Western-inspired fine dining: Meals are made by an in-house culinary team with local meat, fresh produce, and local grains. Since 2025, they’ve also added an on-site bakery for yummy pastries!

Good Things to Know: The property isn’t pet-friendly, but you may see ranch dogs, cats, and other animals you can hang out with during your time at the lodge 🙂

3 Tips for Planning an Upscale Summer Camp Wedding

1. Find ways to elevate the small details

Planning an upscale summer camp wedding is all about finding subtle ways to elevate the experience. Chances are, if you want to maintain that summer-camp-feel, you probably aren’t envisioning a completely lavish, luxurious day full of expensive items, materials, and decor; you probably crave the feeling of a luxurious experience that allows you to be present, relax, and delight in the joy of the day.
