If you’ve been searching for the perfect wedding venue on the Olympic Peninsula, look no further, my friend—because you’ve just found it! Between its private beach access, copious amount of natural light indoors, spaciousness, and proximity to the stunning Olympic National Park, Agate Beach Lodge is really dang hard to beat for weddings on the peninsula. In this blog post, I’ve gathered all the most important information about planning a wedding at Agate Beach Lodge, from directions to FAQ’s to pricing. This will forever be one of the most stunning locations I’ve ever photographed!
About Agate Beach Lodge
Where is Agate Beach Lodge?
Agate Beach Lodge has a prime location on the northern Olympic Peninsula, nestled along the waters of Agate Bay just 20 minutes west of Port Angeles. One of the biggest draws of this incredible wedding venue is the fact that it’s less than a five-minute drive from two super beautiful coastal locations, Crescent Beach and Salt Creek Recreation Area. It’s in a fairly remote, secluded area, meaning you have a ton of privacy and really get to enjoy the peninsula experience without worrying about crowds or tourists. You can also be rest assured that your day will be completely exclusive and safe, given that the entrance to the venue is gated, and no guests are allowed on the property besides those who are attending your celebration!

How to Get to Agate Beach Lodge
There are a few different ways to get to Agate Beach Lodge, depending on where you’re coming from: the drive from Seattle takes between 2.5-3 hours and is the fastest way to get to Port Angeles, but you can also opt for a ferry ride from Seattle to Bainbridge Island if you’d like to add a little time on the water into the mix.

Why Have Your Wedding at Agate Beach Lodge?
It’s spacious, modern, and up to date
Agate Beach Lodge is a phenomenal wedding venue for many reasons, one being simply how huge the place feels! The lodge was designed to be a sanctuary; an escape into the serenity of the Olympic Peninsula—and they did not skimp on space when they built it. Agate Beach Lodge can host up to 75 guests for celebrations, which is just the perfect number for a small wedding with all of your favorite people. You’ll buy out the entire lodge for your wedding for a minimum of two nights, meaning you’ll have exclusive use of the entire property without worrying about being interrupted by any other guests.
One of my favorite aspects of the lodge: the massive windows that allow so much natural light to pour in throughout the day, and the many doors in the hallway that feel like they could really lead anywhere. The upstairs portion of the building has several suites to stay in, each with big windows that can even open up a bit if you want to hear the sound of the ocean. Who wouldn’t want to fall asleep the night of their wedding to the sounds of the waves hitting the shores?
Besides the fact that the building feels incredibly spacious, it’s also clean, modern, and very up to date, with a pretty neutral color palette that easily avoids any tackiness that can often come with indoor lighting. The small touches included throughout the venue will impress you and your guests; every detail intentionally placed and every room curated with guest experience in mind. I absolutely love the clean, minimalist walls and the way the natural light just brightens up every room even on cloudier days! It’s truly the perfect blend of coastal elegance and rustic charm, both of which hold so true to the atmosphere of the Pacific Northwest.

The getting ready spaces are lovely—and not gendered!
The venue offers a few different common areas where you and your loved ones can get ready, my personal favorite being the loft in the A-frame. Natural light flows in through the windows in abundance, and the space lends itself beautifully to getting ready photos with a large mirror and vanity space. Plus, I love some good architecture to play around with in your photos—you’ll have no shortage of images documenting the morning leading up to the big moment!
And because Agate Beach Lodge is not just a wedding venue, but also a place to stay the night, you don’t have to worry about gendered getting ready suites. Room names such as the “bridal suite” and “groomsmen’s cave” are such an outdated and exclusionary thing that just isn’t necessary, so I always love to note when a venue makes the intentional choice to avoid gendered language. All are welcome at Agate Beach Lodge!

The reception area is perfect for a party
While the upstairs portion of the lodge is perfect for getting ready, the downstairs area was MADE for receptions. It’s massive, with a ton of space for dancing, a bar, plenty of tables, or even one huge table to span the length of the room. I was floored by the lovely display that Cheyenne and Tim’s rental coordinator designed for their wedding a while back (see photos below); such a warm and inviting atmosphere to welcome guests into for the evening! I’ll be touching on this more in just a minute, but the lodge also has two different outdoor reception spaces if you’d prefer to be outside, enjoying the scenery throughout the night.

It’s incredibly close to Salt Creek Recreation Area
Salt Creek Recreation Area is one of my favorite parts of Olympic National Park, so the fact that Agate Beach Lodge is less than a five-minute drive away is a huge win in my book. Brimming with wildlife, tidepools, lush greenery, and opportunities for outdoor adventure, Salt Creek Recreation Area offers such a breathtaking location to either pop out in the evening for portraits, or even to spend a day or two before your wedding just exploring! You could spend hours checking out the tidepools, hiking, kayaking, checking out waterfalls, it’s such a diverse area with so many amazing ways to enjoy the landscapes.

You get private beach access
In addition to being so close to Salt Creek, you also get full access to a private beach just steps away from the lodge! Agate Beach is the cutest little cove along the Strait of Juan de Fuca, offering beautiful blue surf, rocks and agates galore, and wildlife including eagles, deer, seals, even whales in the distance if you get lucky. Nothing beats having a gorgeous piece of the coast all to yourselves, for only you and your guests to enjoy. It’s such an idyllic spot for romantic sunset portraits, your first look, really any part of your wedding day, and looks absolutely stunning whether it’s bright and sunny or cloudy and moody.

It doubles as a beautiful place to stay
Finally, and I’ve mentioned this already, Agate Beach Lodge is not only a spectacular place to tie the knot—it also doubles as a place for you and a select group of your guests to stay! With three spacious suites that can fit up to 10 people total, you’ll have an unforgettable experience spending a couple of nights in this secluded cove with your favorite people. All three suites are a mix of rustic charm and coastal elegance, featuring large beds, natural light, and bathrooms with modern amenities. The Agate Suite even comes with a fully stocked kitchen, dining table, and couch, making it the perfect suite for you and your partner to cozy up in. Staying in the same place as your guests for a couple nights really elevates your wedding experience and allows you to spend so much more, intimate quality time together.

Aside from the stunning interiors of the lodge, Agate Beach also offers multiple outdoor sites for ceremonies and receptions that are equally as breathtaking! You’ve got two options for a beachfront ceremony: Beachfront Ceremony Site #1, and Beachfront Ceremony Site #2 (creative, I know).
Ceremony site #1 is located not quite on the beach but on the grassy lawn in front of the lodge, overlooking the bay and the surrounding cove. It’s a heavenly spot to say your vows in the presence of your loved ones, with the deep blue waters behind you and, if you time it right, the gentle glow of the sun shining as it sets over the horizon. Truly so dreamy!
Ceremony site #2 is best for ceremonies with just a couple of guests, located right down on the beach itself a few yards from where the waves hit the shores. This is also a great spot for a private dinner for two in the evening, as well as golden hour portraits!
You have a couple of options for your reception: the downstairs of the lodge if you’d like to be indoors, or either the field reception site or firepit gathering site if you’d prefer to celebrate outdoors. The field reception site is nestled in a quiet spot among the trees, and the firepit gathering site is a bit more out in the open, closer to the water. Both areas are beautifully fit for an unforgettable evening of connection and community with your guests, it’s really just up to what kind of setting you’d like and how many people you have/how much space you need! The firepit is the perfect spot to end the night with cozy stories around the campfire.

Best Time of Year to Get Married at Agate Beach Lodge
The abundance of outdoor scenery and awe-inspiring landscapes at Agate Beach Lodge are best enjoyed in the late spring, summer, or early fall, when the weather is most ideal; however, because the lodge does have indoor spaces available for weddings, you could absolutely host a winter wedding if you wanted to! You’ll get the highest likelihood of sunshine and blue skies in the late summer months, but the cooler temperatures and foliage of late spring and fall are really beautiful in their own right. Cost-wise, it’s pricier to buy out the venue in the summer as that is peak wedding season, so if you’re trying to save money, a fall or winter wedding may be the way to go.

Agate Beach Lodge Wedding Packages
In order to ensure you have complete privacy during your stay at the property, Agate Beach Lodge does require you to buy out the full lodge for at least two nights—which ends up being the perfect way to celebrate with your favorite people for just a little bit longer! With space for up to 10 people per night across three spacious suites, you and your closest loved ones will be able to relax and take full advantage of the stunning property and surrounding landscapes.
Below are the current prices for a lodge buyout (subject to change; I recommend looking at their website for the most up-to-date pricing):

—Late Spring, Summer, & Early Fall (May 16-October 15): $995/night

Event fees to rent out the lodge for your wedding vary by the size of your group, ranging from $1,800 for up to 25 guests to $4,500 for up to 75. They’ve made their pricing options fairly simple and easy to understand, which I love as somebody who has seen all sorts of complicated wedding venue packages in my years as a photographer.
The team at Agate Beach Lodge has also done a wonderful job of thinking through everything a couple could need in order to plan a seamless, stress-free celebration. Included in Agate Beach Lodge wedding packages are the following services and amenities:
